Cecile was extremely active in her High School Band. She participated both in Marching Band and as a member of the school's highest band, the award winning Wind Symphony. She is an accomplished floutist and has also mastered the piccolo. In her senior year of high school, Cecile was selected as first chair flute and flute section leader. She has continued her musical pursuits at Wake Forest where she auditioned for and was selected as a member of the University Flute Choir , the University Wind Ensemble, the select wind/percussion ensemble on campus and, as a Freshman, was then invited to join the prestigious Universty Orchestra! Cecile was selected as the sole delegate from her high school to attend the 2008 session of Florida Girls State sponsered by the American Legion Auxiliary. American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a nonpartisan program that teaches young women responsible citizenship and love for God and Country. Since the inception of the Girls State program in 1937, nearly one million young people have had the opportunity to learn first-hand how their state and local government works. High school girls, who have completed their Junior year, spend an intensive week of study, working together as self-governing citizens at Auxiliary-sponsored Girls State programs in every state (with the exception of Hawaii). Participants learn how to participate in the functioning of their state's government in preparation for their future roles as responsible adult citizens. The Florida SADD Student Advisory Board (SAB) was created in 1996 to assist the FLORIDA SADD State Coordinator in maintaining an open line of communication between the SADD chapters in Florida and the FLORIDA SADD office. There are nine student representatives on the SAB. The SAB membership is comprised of a student representative from each of the eight regions and the FLORIDA SADD Student of the Year. The FLORIDA SADD Student of the Year serves a one-year term and the eight regional representatives serve a one-year. A student may apply for a second one-year term. The one-year term begins at the end of the first week in May and ends at the end of the first week in May the following year.
